COURTSHIP
This is an old fashioned word, used by the older generation which is not commonly use by the younger generation. The word used by the present generation is referred to as DATING. Courtship is the time when two people have romantic relationship before marriage, this is also the time where the love bird are said to be madly in love and that they are inseparable from each other.
It is also the process of developing relationship. Before, people tend to have long courtship. Some last for 14, 12, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, etc. this courtship last for this period of time because of some reasons which varies from age, finance, family etc. but the youth of today are not known for long courtship, reason been that most long courtship don’t end up in marriages. Now you get courtship ranging from 6 months to two years and then you hear the wedding bells.
Some school of thoughts are of the opinion that long courtship is better than short courtship, that it will afford the partners enough time to get to know each other well. While some are of the opinion that short courtship is the best that you can never get to know a person totally except you live together, because people are good are concealing their behavior.
Also, it’s a time to learn more about your partners’ do’s and don’t, their dreams and aspiration, weakness and strength. It’s also the time to drop in on your partners unannounced, by so doing you may get them in the habits they don’t want you to know about.
Again, it’s a time to talk to yourself and to make up your mind about the other person, if you are ready for the commitment marriage entails. It’s also when to put into consideration the good qualities of your partner, which are worth having in your life that will make it complete.
Lastly, it’s a time for you to know in your heart that you can’t live without the other person because of the love you feel for the other person and also the time to decide that you won’t be tired of looking at this face for the rest of your life. WHICH BRINGS ME TO THE QUESTION: WHICH WILL YOU ADVICE, LONG OR SHORT COURTSHIP?
